Welcome to January Camera Clips. The fantastic black and white images that make up this months banners (above) come from Jen Williams, Judy Sara, Chris Schutz and Bruce Nankivell, all of whom posted in the 31 day challenge. The Challenge was based on themes of monochrome and square crop images. These images featured strongly in the first club meeting – a show case of what members had been doing over the summer break. There is both a post on the club web page as well as an article in Camera clips about this years 31 day challenge. You can also go and see the original images on the club Flickr page.
Chris has been prolific as a writer on the club web page, having written musings from el presidente for the last 3 years. As his presidency comes to an end, I asked Chris in jest, “What ever happened to the revolution”? Chris has replied with an article “Viva la revolución!“. That article I have include in this months camera clips. I was hoping that this may become a regular column of commentary in Camera Clips this year.
I have an article on Colour theory for photographers. I have written this article as Frances and I chose to submit images in Dogwood 52 this year. Actually so has Judy Sara. The exercise was to create a colour compliment. What does this mean? How much do you know about colour theory. Have a read and see if you knew it all before hand. I found it refreshing to review the basic theory of colour composing. You can see the images submitted on the club Flickr page, or go to the Official dogwood page or the facebook page.
Lastly, keep watching Camera clips as I hope to post images from the Noarlunga Excursion when they become available.
Addendum:
I now have images for the Port Noarlunga Excursion, thanks to the organisation by Jen and Di. There were very dramatic change in the weather as the sun set. It is interesting to see the different perspectives, as club members found themselves in various locations around the old Port. I have also thrown together some tips on lightning photography for those who feel inspired.
Also Chris has given me an article about the black and White 7 day challenge on facebook.
Read on and enjoy.
